Focus week "QCD in connection with BSM study at LHC" (Cosponsored by KEK Theory Center), Nov 10 - 13, 2009

It is already 4th focus week on LHC. This time, we want to focus on the connection with new physics study at LHC.

In recent years, there are increase concerns and interests on QCD processes at LHC. The process involving multiple parton emissions are backgrounds for BSM processes,. It is realized that the higher ordercorrections and Parton shower-Matrix element matching are needed to predict the distribution reliably. The structure of jets might also be important. The IR stable jet definitions were proposed, and the interesting use of jet substructure in the BSM processes are studied. Finally, when we want to measure mass and interactions of BSM particles, QCD activity with new physics process, overall event rates and QCD radiations must be understood.

We will arrange seminars, discussions, in addition to the lectures for graduate students and PD on the above issues. We will also have one days workshop so that participants can givetalks.
