Overview

From October 26 (Fri) to October 27 (Sat) 2018, the University of Tokyo’s Kashiwa Campus will host this year's open day under the banner “The Wonder of Exploring Knowledge at Kashiwa”.


NOTE: Parking spaces at Kashiwa campus will be closed off during Open Campus. Please use public transport, or come to campus by bicycle or foot.

Backstage tour of Kavli IPMU
 

 

The award-winning design of the Kavli IPMU building has been praised for creating a home for scientists that allows people from different countries and different fields to get to know one another. Join one of our tours to get a behind-the-scenes look.

  • Runs for: 30 - 40min
  • When:
    • Oct 26 (Fri) 11:00~ /12:00~ /14:30~ /15:30~
    • Oct 27 (Sat) 11:00~ /12:30~ /13:15~ /14:00~ /14:45~ /15:30~
  • Starting point: Kavli IPMU Reception (1F)
  • Limit: 20 people per tour*

Specially for Open Campus, the doors to Laboratory B will be open to the public. See what goes on inside.

Bubbles and Mathematics Workshop

  • Speaker: Tsinghua University Assistant Professor Will Donovan (former Kavli IPMU Project Researcher)
    * Japanese translation will not be available
  • Seats: 16*

Listen to the Cosmic Microwave Background

Musician Akihiko Matsumoto has composed a piece based on Cosmic Microwave Background data provided by Kavli IPMU researchers.
