About the title of Senior Fellow

In April 2022, the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) established a program to grant the title of Senior Fellow to individuals who are internationally recognized for their academic or educational achievements, have made significant contributions to Kavli IPMU research activities, and are expected to contribute to the promotion of Kavli IPMU research activities in the future.

The first Senior Fellow titles were awarded to seven researchers.

The existing PI system was abolished in March 2022, having achieved its original purpose.
