The Yukawa Kimura Prize is being awarded to Tadashi Takayanagi, an Associate Professor at IPMU this year.
The Yukawa-Kimura prize was established in 2007 on this donation. The Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, is entrusted with selection of the awardees. The prize is given annually to a scientist who has made not only significant contribution to fundamental, theoretical fields of gravity and spacetime theories or field theory, but also who is expected to play a leading role in those fields in the future.
This year's award-winning research is titled "Holography and tachyon condensation in superstring theory" . He has accomplished a sparkling jewel in the crown of superstring theory the following type of subjects.
- An Exactly Solvable Matrix Model for Two Dimensional Superstring
- Holographic Calculations of Entanglement Entropy
- Descriptions of Tachyon Condensations in Superstring Theory
The award ceremony will be held on January 19th at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics.
