EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE/ EVACUATION DRILL ON OCT. 7, 2011

(In case of rain, the drill might be cancelled)

2:00 p.m. A large scale-earthquake occurs. A level 7 earthquake, and lasting one minute.

  • An “all call" announcement indicating that this is a campus wide earthquake drill.
  • Stop your work and power off equipment.
  • Secure your safety.(Drop to the ground, Take over by getting under the desk)
  • Close doors to limit the potential spread of smoke and fire.

2:01p.m. When it stops, there follows a broadcast and evacuation to the designated primary assembly area.

  1. Immediately evacuate the building via the nearest exit in accordance with the following:
  2. Keep moving calmly, yet quickly.
  3. Instruct visitors to evacuate and assist those individuals with special needs.
  4. Do not use elevators.
  5. Get out either from the east or west exit. (The automatic doors might become out of order.)
  6. Stay at the designated primary assembly area in front of the IPMU Bldg.

2:25p.m. Confirm the safety of all IPMU members. After the evacuation is completed, move to the designated secondly assembly area next to the “Plaza Ikoi"(cafeteria).

2:45p.m. The chief of the Fire Department will provide comments.

3:00 p.m. End of the evacuation drill. Go back to work unless you are attending the evacuation practical training.

3:00 p.m. Evacuation practical training starts

  • Fire extinguisher
  • Earthquake simulation vehicle
  • Escape in smoke
  • Ladder Truck (on-site observation only)

4:00 p.m. Evacuation practical training is over. Everyone goes back to work.
