University of California, Los Angeles, Professor and Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe Visiting Senior Scientist Alexander Kusenko, has been appointed Particle Physics (Theoretical) Associate Editor of Reviews of Modern Physics, it was announced by the American Physical Society in October.

The Reviews of Modern Physics is a quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal established in 1929, and is a world-leading physics review journal covering all fields of physics. It is currently the most highly cited Physical Review publication.

In line with all Physical Review journals, the Reviews of Modern Physics is overlooked by an editorial team of PhD scientists with extensive research experience at major academic institutions around the world. This ensures the journal prioritize the needs of researchers and authors, and not the commercial publishing industry. It is an international journal, with about three-fifths of its published articles originating from outside the US.

"I have accepted this editorial position with the hope to accomplish something exciting. Over the years, Reviews of Modern Physics has played a singular role in the physics community. The articles by Feynman, Weinberg, and other outstanding scientists summarized current research, illuminated the path forward, and helped train the next generation of physicists. Taking on an editorial role in such a renowned journal is a huge responsibility, as well as an opportunity to help chart the course of future research. Obviously, I will need a lot of help from my colleagues, and I hope that their insights and their contributions will help the journal cover many exciting developments," said Kusenko.

Kusenko’s role as associate editor has already begun, starting in October.

Kavli IPMU Project Professor Hiroaki Aihara is currently serving as the Particle Physics (Experimental) Associate Editor of Reviews of Modern Physics.
