Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU, WPI)
The University of Tokyo Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU, WPI) Project Professor Misao Sasaki has been named this year’s Benjamin Lee Professor, it was announced by the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) in South Korea.
“I feel extremely honored to receive the prestigious title of Benjamin Lee Professorship,” said Sasaki.
The Benjamin Lee Professorship was established by the APCTP in honor of Korean-born theoretical physicist Benjamin Lee, who had a distinguished career in particle physics theory, and is awarded to researchers who have made significant contributions in physics internationally. Sasaki has been recognized for his contributions to early universe research and the general theory of relativity.
As part of his professorship, Sasaki will be invited to stay at the APCTP for an extended period to interact with local graduate students and researchers.
An award ceremony and plenary talk by Sasaki is scheduled to take place in October during the Korean Physical Society’s fall meeting.
