Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU)
The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observatory announces the commencement of the early operation.
ALMA is being developed in northern Chile under an international partnership of Europe, North America and East Asia, and is the largest astronomical project in existence.
The ALMA observatory has approved the science programs of Dr. Takaya Nozawa, an IPMU Post Doctoral researcher, and Dr. Masami Ouchi an associate professor from ICRR (Institute for Cosmic Ray Research of University of Tokyo) and a joint appointment researcher at IPMU, andtheir teams for the early observations.
