Nobuhiko Katayama appointed as an Associate Director of IPMU

Professor Nobuhiko Katayama was appointed as a Associate Director of IPMU on Apr 1, 2012.


Prof. Katayama has worked on the area of experimental particle physics, especially in heavy flavor physics at Cornell University and at High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK).
Especially He was in charge of development and operation of data analysis system, data analysis software as well as  computing for the Belle experiment.

He played an important role in the experiment which provide the Nobel winning "Theory of CP-Violation" by Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Masukawa.
He has recently changed the field of research to experimental cosmology.
Prof. Katayama said  “I’m excited about my new job to help Hitoshi to shape a new future of the Kavli IPMU, while I can work on the intriguing science with HSC and PFS.”

Kavli IPMU Director Hitoshi Murayama stated  "I'm very happy that Nobu will work as my partner to run the Kavli IPMU.  He has very strong credentials working in large teams and  his scientific interest is a great match to our program.  I feel very fortunate to have attracted him!"

Prof. Katayama's engagement as an associate Director and his research activities will be expected to create great impact on Kavli IPMU.
