An international team led by Dr. Kunio Inoue (Professor of Tohoku University and Principal Investigator of Kavli IPMU), Dr. Alexandre Kozlov (Project Assistant Professor of Kavli IPMU) and researchers from Tohoku University published the latest results on a neutrinoless double-beta decay search at KamLAND-Zen experiment.

The results were published as  Physical Review Letters 110, 062502(2013). (PRL) (arXiv)

In the paper they presented the most strict up-to-date limit for the neutrinoless double-beta decay half-life of 1.9 x 1025 year at 90% C.L. The combined results from KamLAND-Zen and another double-beta decay search experiment EXO-200 give a lower limit of 3.4 x 1025 year at 90% C.L. This result excludes the Majorana neutrino mass range expected from the neutrinoless double-beta decay detection claim in 76Ge, reported by a part of the Heidelberg-Moscow Collaboration, at more than 97.5% C.L.
